If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

John Quincy Adams.

Dear Friends and Family,

My name is Jacob Turobiner and I’m an 11th grader at Calabasas High School.

I have partnered with Good Deeds in Motion and decided to start Aid For Hope, a project for the homeless community, because I feel that it is my duty to support those struggling in need and to make a difference in my community. Many factors push people into living on the street and acknowledging these can help end homelessness. People become homeless for many reasons: finances, drug and alcohol abuse, mental illness (such as post-traumatic stress disorder), physical disabilities, poor life choices or skills, and more.

The homeless of Los Angeles suffer everyday on the streets. Los Angeles has one of the largest homeless populations. In the San Fernando Valley, there are more than 7,000 homeless persons. Of these, only about 20% have access to shelter. This leaves thousands on the streets, many with disabilities and health issues. Homeless individuals are at high-risk of injury on the streets, and therefore need supplies that keep them healthier.

The homeless sometimes have trouble with blisters or just small scrapes and cuts that become infected and lead to bigger health issues. To help tackle this problem, my organization has partnered with Hope of the Valley -- a non-profit organization that houses and supports the homeless in Southern California  -- to providing the homeless with first aid kits.  Delivering first aid kits to the homeless will enable them take care of the smaller things before they escalate into larger problems.  The kits will also make life a little more comfortable and tolerable. In the long run, the kits can reduce suffering and also save lives.

My initial goal is to deliver 1000 kits with the hope of thousands more. With your help, my goal is not only to deliver as many first-aid kits as possible but also to create awareness that homelessness is a huge problem in our community.

Please sponsor one bag for $10, two bags for $18, three bags for $24 or any monetary donation will be welcome.

Once again, in order to make the biggest difference in people’s lives, we must rally together.

Your donation is tax deductible and can be made to Hope of the Valley - Aid for Hope, either by check or online donation.
